For those of you who know me you know that when it comes to name brands I am a particular human being. Now I never needed the full collection of the likes of
Bernard Arnault but I have my taste. I have always been a big Polo Raulph Lauren fan and many other competing brands, B-Repub. Anywho in shanghai we were told we needed to visit the copy market. This metropolis of fake things. Great really except if your like me and don't like fakes. Well the copy market turned out alright after all. While I didn't buy and fake Diesel or AEX I did set my eyes on a few great items. I managed to walk away with a few new pairs of socks some DVDs Chopsticks and Chinese stress Balls. The best part is I got it all for 15USD. I wasn't in the market to buy anything but when I saw a few things I liked I asked how much took a 80% discount and started bargaining. The key to this process is two fold. First always start a bit lower than you expect to pay that way you can go up a bit. Second, never give into his price go up a bit maybe 5% but thats it. He wants to sell it to you more than you want to buy it and you need him to believe that. I was pulling numbers out of Becca's Mary Poppins bag and I was getting them. One woman even offered to rip the diesel logo off of a shirt for me to buy it. Becca was able to get some nice stuff but you know guys when it comes to that department:
Guy: Oh that's really nice honey
Girl: I think I like it better than the other one
Guy: What other one
Girl: You know, the blue one with the strap that was really cute.
Guy: Oh yeah (NO IDEA), which ever one you like better I think they both look nice
So that was fun. To be honest I think half the fun of buying stuff is actually bargaining. I would have bought anything if it was a good deal it was like a evening of entertainment.
You'll have to take us there - sounds like fun.
