The Internet??? More like shminternet
Now im usually a mild complainer as many of you know but I have had it with this thing we call the world wide web. Yea everybody has it and it is awesome but what about when it just sux. Ill sight examples to back up my point. First, University of Maryland brags about the wireless internet everywhere. Well they told me I have wireless im my apartment and I get there and there is wireless. What they dont tell me is every few minutes it falls apart breaks dies looses connection and I have to reconnect. Then my main man jon, rain man, bails me out with an ingenious stroke of brilliance by connecting me to the superfast sercure internet. Well this was working great until it just stopped working. The same problem. And what is with this troubleshooting. Any one you call all they say is Unplug it and then wait 10 seconds and plug it back in. I want it to just work. Now im at home with my mom yelling "honey did you unplug it and then plug it back in". Speaking of home we got the wireless but i cant connet to it with my laptop because of some problem in the security lock. Anywho, the reason im posting this entry is the craziness of CityU internet. In order to get the internet to work you have to have internet. Novel right, how is that suppose to work. Run down to the computer lab five minutes away and hope you can then do it all perfect and it will all work when you come back to your room. Well lucky for me I have a smart roommate but even he couldnt figure it out. What are the trouble shooting directions you may ask... Unplug the ethernet from your computer and the wall and them reconnect them. With little hope I began playing around with the other features of my comp and then as the internet always does it just begins to work. How miraculous. I must say I love it but boy do I wish I could teach It a lesson or two and while im at it I would probably speak in a stephen colbert voice. Tata

So all is good at the end of the day. It works and you have the world and, more importantly, your family and your friends from far away in the palm of your hands. Or should i say the palm of your "laptop". Thank goodness for me!! Love you.
ReplyDeletei feel your pain, jar. when we got to australia, they told us straight up, the internet in this country doesnt work as well (meaning as quickly or reliably) as it does in america, so you're just gonna have to deal with it. and with so many american students in 1 building, all trying to use the internet to keep in touch with people from home, well, you can imagine. it was a giant mess. and even here in pittsburgh, the internet in my apartment was so bad my mom had to withhold the rent until the landlord would get someone to fix it (as in, do more than just unplug and plug it back in)...glad its working better now. your blog is great!
