Finally, a Mench
As Laura puts it he is a Mensch. This wonderful Yiddish word, I cringe thinking about Bubby's B- bullshit, and by the way that was a sick alliteration, has been used in many ways. Today I had a wonderful encounter with a mensch. Arriving at Hong Kong International our instructions after getting through customs were "Ill find you". I traveled 8000 miles and all I get is a "Ill find you" me and Becca are now standing in the midst of hundreds of people towards the exit of the airport waiting to be found. The seemingly improbably likelihood of this plan working actually worked and we were greeted by Becca's cousin Aaron. After a information filled trip from the airport we checked in at the residence halls and our trip had begun. Now as some of you know this has been the pride and joy of my days over the past few months learning and researching all I could but you have no idea. When you land its a different world and you are lost in it. I felt completely out of my league and for the first time in a while I was wondering if I was going to make it back safe. As I entered my room I was surprised to find my new roommate, Lawrence and his girlfriend in his bed. This will forever be engrained as my first memory of HK, how fitting. Anywho, Both Becca and I are now baffled at the enormity of the task we have just taken on and frankly overwhelmed. Neither of us really could even figure out a place to begin not to mention our 17 hour flight. Uncle Paul was kind enough to take us the the mall near by showing us the neighborhoods and continuing to elaborate on the topics of our endless stream of questions. After the mall he invited us to dinner with his family. We ate at "the club" and boy was it great to have a menu of American foods. Pizza burgers and fish covered the pages and it was a calming feeling. The relaxing meal really refueled us although we were now wondering how much longer we would last. We got a quick tour of their beautiful house just around the corner from "the club" and finally were on our way back to the residence halls of CityU. I am about to hit the pillow and the afternoon with Paul really calmed my anxiety from earlier in the day. He welcomed us into his home life and city with open arms and made us feel warm and reassured of the adventure we are about to embark on. Thank you paul. Goodnight.

I am sure you and Becca are up for the challenge. I know that feeling of "I'm not in Kansas anymore" but give yourself a bit of time and before you know it you will feel fine. Make sure to thank Paul & Aaron and the rest of the family. I'm going to send you an email of a J&J contact I know in HK in case you need another "local" to help. Keep writing.
